Six months of growing garden

While I'm at it I thought I'd add some pictures of the seasons as reflected by the flowers in my garden.  Although we live in a sustainable community that promotes the growth of native and productive plants, I have a love of all things flowery.  My excuse for planting these (and I believe it's very valid) is to encourage the bees to my garden to pollinate my vege garden.  My native bees also love any flat flowers whether they are native or not.  Soooooo not only do these flowers look pretty but they serve a very important function as well.  Here they are...

My three month project is finally finished....

...well it was finished on the 27th and handed to my mother to pack in suitcase to go to Sweden.  I have a new half Aussie/half Swedish nephew who was born in October.  I decided that I wanted him to have a texture blanket to roll around on so I made one...  I have already made one of these quilts for my Aussie nephew but had forgotten how long and fiddly the process was.  That was probably a good thing as I don't think I may have bothered again if I'd had remembered that bit!  Who knows if my future kids will actually get one...hopefully I'll have forgotten all about the process by the time that happens.  

There are five animals - one in colour and texture, the other is made from the backing fabric.

They all combine to form an Aussie animal texture blanket quilt.

six months in one blog???

 I have been so slack with my blogging. I'll put it down to being a beginner blogger and forgetting to blog when I have something worth blogging about....  I have been busy making a few different things for people as gifts.

I enjoyed making some little handbags for my niece and a very dear friend who both had birthdays in June - this tells you how long it's been since I posted anything!  I was very lucky to find an online tutorial for these bags on the website of a Finnish sewing company called ottobre.  The purse is called "Dotty Dream" and the tutorial was quite easy to follow.  I didn't take photo's of the step by step procedure only the finished product.


This bag I made for my friend....




















and this one I made for my niece on her 6th birthday.  She loves pink and she loves owls hence the choice of fabric...

   I also made her a a matching pencil case...








I did also start making myself one out of some fabric red cord fabric from my mum's house but it's not finished yet...  One day it's happen!
